Who We Are
Mission
To support and empower all LGBTQ+ people for their journey to parenthood by providing inclusive educational resources, peer support, coaching, and referrals spanning all paths and possibilities for family-building.
In the near future we plan to expand on our mission by offering specialized support and services to help new and expecting parents—whether welcoming a newborn, a toddler or an older child—prepare for the arrival of their family member and navigate their first year of parenthood with confidence and connection.
Vision
A world where every LGBTQ+ person has the opportunity and support they need to become parents—paired with a growing movement of family-building through foster-adopt, helping more queer and trans youth successfully transition out of foster care and into loving, affirming LGBTQ+ families.

Our Journey
From Storytelling to a Non-Profit Supporting All LGBTQ+ Families
When we launched Gays With Kids in March 2014, our mission was clear: to support gay men on their journey to parenthood and help gay dads navigate fatherhood. We did this by sharing their stories—creating visibility, building community, and celebrating the many ways gay men become parents.
In 2022, we took our commitment a step further with the launch of GWK Academy. This initiative provided structured education and expert guidance to help gay men understand their various paths to parenthood before beginning their journey.
Today, our mission has grown even broader. As a non-profit, we proudly introduce GWK Academy Family Building, Inc., expanding our support to the entire LGBTQ+ community. Our goal remains the same: to educate, empower, and guide queer individuals and couples on their path to parenthood—ensuring every LGBTQ+ person has the resources and support they need to build the family of their dreams.
