Becoming dads felt like a distant dream for Ron and Nate—until it wasn’t. Now, after years of planning and patience, this South Korean-American couple living in Oslo are officially fathers to twins!
“We’ve been together for 13 years, married for 10. Fatherhood wasn’t always on our radar, mostly because we weren’t sure it would be possible for us,” they shared. “But about eight years ago, we started seriously thinking about it and looking into our options.”
About 2 years ago, that journey led them to GWK Academy, where a conversation with Brian helped them see that parenthood was within reach.
“He pointed us in the right direction, which led us to Simple Surrogacy. Our coordinator, Jill, took great care of us. The first egg donor option we received was exactly what we were looking for, and our one and only surrogate match was perfect for us.”
The husbands also worked with Dr Daniel Skora of Fertility Specialists of Texas, a fellow gay dad of twins, who transferred two embryos in mid 2024. They found out in July 2024 that their surrogate was pregnant.
Their twins were scheduled for a C-section, but arrived two weeks early—before Ron and Nate could make it to the U.S. “We missed being there for their birth, and since they were early, they had to spend time in the NICU. That made not being there even worse. But we got to them two days later, and while it might sound cliché, we both just felt immediate joy and calm from holding them.”
Now, they’re soaking in every moment of new dad life.
“We love just looking at their faces and listening to their squeaks, guessing how their personalities might develop, and feeling overjoyed at every little thing they do.”
Their biggest piece of advice? “Even though you’re ready to get things going, choose your surrogate with care and ask the questions that matter most to you. We thought our surrogate and her family were the perfect fit when we read their profile, but after talking with them, we were certain. They gave us regular updates, had video calls when we asked, and were there for our twins before we could get there.”
