Exploring Your Path to Parenthood: Biological, Adoption & Foster Care
At GWK Academy, we believe every LGBTQ+ person deserves the opportunity to build a loving family. As we transition to a nonprofit, we remain deeply committed to providing the most comprehensive, affirming, and accessible resources for LGBTQ+ parents-to-be.
For those considering parenthood, there are three primary paths:
🔹 Adoption – A birth parent chooses you to become the forever parent(s) of their newborn through domestic infant adoption, either with an agency or independently. You can also adopt through the foster care system, and in select countries, international adoption is an option.
🔹 Biological Family-Building – Surrogacy, IVF, and (coming soon!) IUI, reciprocal IVF and trans fertility pathways allow LGBTQ+ individuals and couples to have a genetic connection to their child.
🔹 Foster Care & Respite Care – Open your home and heart to a child in need, whether through temporary care or long-term foster parenting. Our dedicated foster care section is coming soon!
